Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's 'Papanasam' was one of the blockbusters of the year 2015. We know that it is the Tamil remake of Malayalam super hit thriller 'Drishyam' which had Mohanlal in the lead role. It may be relevant to recall that Superstar Rajinikanth was the initial choice to reprise Mohanlal's role in the Tamil remake but the star did not take up the offer since he felt that the role would not go down well with this fans.
But it seems the time as ripe now, for the eternal Superstar to act in a Malayalam remake and he will be reprising the role played by Megastar Mammootty in the original.
Director Siddique had directed last year's super hit Malayalam flick 'Bhaskar The Rascal' with Mammootty and Nayanthara in lead roles. In his recent interview to a popular Malayalam weekly, Siddique has confirmed that he will be directing the film's Tamil remake with Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role.
Rajinikanth has just completed shooting for the film 'Kabali' directed by Pa.Ranjith and he will resume shooting for director Shankar's mega budget sci-fi flick '2.0' which will keep him busy for the rest of the year. Going by Siddique's confirmation. we can expect that the star will start acting in the remake film from early 2017 if all things go as planned.
'Bhaskar the Rascal' is the story of two different divorced single parents, falling in love and getting united in conjugal bliss with the help of their respective children.
It will be a refreshing experience to see Rajinikanth acting in such a family, romance and comedy oriented film.
Siddique has directed Ilayathalapathy Vijay in Tamil films 'Friends' and 'Kavalan'. He has also directed Vijayakanth's 'Engal Anna'. All the three films have proven to be neat family entertainers presented with rollicking comedy and all of them have been super hits. So we can expect Siddique to bring out the hilarious comedian inside our Superstar and also be assured of a sure shot success when they team up.
We will keep you posted on any developments in this regard. Keep visiting this space.
