Veteran Tamil actor passes away # Bala

Actor Kumarimuthu has passed away last night at a private hospital where he was admitted due to a sudden illness. The veteran actor was 77.
Kumarimuthu has been acting in Tamil films since 1978. His first film was 'Ival Oru Sethai' and then he acted in director Mahendran's 'Nandu'. Since then he has acted in more than 500 Tamil films in comical and supporting roles. Some of his notable performances came from 'Oomai Vizhigal', 'Idhu Namma Aalu' in which he played a barber and the hero Bhagyaraj's father, 'Pudhu Vasantham' in which he played a cheat, 'Idhayam', 'Sahadevan Mahadevan' and 'Aanazhagan',
He is remembered for his unique way of laughing.
His last film happens to be the Vijay-Nayanthara starrer 'Villu'. Later he actively took part in the issues of Nadigar Sangam, raised questions against the previous administration and played an instrumental role in the events that brought about the recent elections which eventually lead to the victory of a new team.
He was also an active member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party and one of its star orators in the party's campaign meetings.
